Ways to Taylor Your CV for Any Job
TAYLOR YOUR CV FOR A SPECIFIC JOB
Writing CVs. That was, is and will always be a challenging task and very different with any job you`re applying for. Obviously, a CV you wrote for an Administrative position will not help you secure a Catering job. Let`s see how we can help you increase your CV writing skills. You need to consider the following:
1 - READ WELL THE JOB DESCRIPTION
The job description contains a big part of the information that you need. Researching about the company will also help as much as you will understand their goals and about their future plans. Reading it several times and then use the skills and tasks it details to enhance your CV.
Match the skills on your CV with those from the job description. Also, highlight the relevant experience you have.
2 - HIGHLIGHT WHAT`S RELEVANT
At the top of your page, you want to put the most crucial skill/experience. This may not always be your last work experience.
Highlight for the eye of the employer the most critical requirement.
3 - CHOOSE YOUR DUTIES CAREFULLY
If at a workplace you were doing 30 tasks and your employer mentions 10 of these as requirements, you should focus on having them as "previous duties".
4 - YOUR HOBBIES MATTER
If you`re applying for a job as - let's say - swimming teacher, putting on your list of hobbies that you like swimming can actually help as it shows you have a keen interest in the position you`re applying for.
Highlight relevant hobbies to the job you`re applying for.
5 - REVIEW
You may think you`ve done a great job writing your CV, but as the saying "two heads are better than one" is correct, so should you ask someone else to have a look and provide feedback.
Ask for someone close to have a read and give its impression on your CV.
