NATIONAL INSURANCE NUMBER INTERVIEWS
After calling the Job Centre to request your number, you will be sent by post, details of your interview.
The letter received from them will also ask you why you need to apply for the National Insurance Number. Most people answer "to start work to sustain myself" and that counts as a good reason.
The same letter will also tell you which documents to bring to prove your identity, like:
- passport or identity card
- residence permit
- birth or adoption certificate
- marriage or civil partnership certificate
- driving licence
You’ll be told, of course, at the interview how long it’ll take to receive your new National Insurance number.
LOST NATIONAL INSURANCE?
If you had not yet memorised or taken any photocopy or scanned it, it can be easily found on previous wage slips.
